General information on personal password security

We recommend that you use secure and complex passwords. Never use a password that you already use for other accounts (e.g. for your e-mail account).

The minimum requirements for your password in your account are

- 11 to 20 characters
- Letters, including upper and lower case letters
- Numbers
- No spaces
- Special characters*

*The following special characters are supported: ! # $ @ ? & % ‘ ’ + = ( ) / € - _ : , ; * < > [ ] { } \ | ~ £ ¥

As complex passwords are often difficult to remember, we recommend using a password manager if you are not already using one. Some providers, such as Apple, already offer a user-friendly solution with the ‘Keychain’.

If you would like to find out more about what makes a secure password, we refer you to the recommendations of the BSI - the German Federal Office for Information Security.
